Abstract Submission

Welcome to the Call for Abstracts for the 15th EURIPA Rural Health Forum.

The title of this year’s Forum is:

Embracing Rural Diversity

The European Rural and Isolated Practitioners Association (EURIPA) and SEMFyD is pleased to invite you to submit abstracts for the 15th EURIPA Rural Health Forum 2025. This year’s theme, "Embracing rural diversity," focuses on the two following sub-themes.

Theme 1: Rural diversity across Europe and within communities

  • Exploring how geography, distance, and landscape shape the delivery and organisation of primary care.
  • Responding to evolving community needs, including supporting older people with multimorbidity, migrants, and temporary or seasonal residents.
  • Ensuring safety and resilience in challenging contexts: from working in areas affected by conflict to practising as isolated or sole clinicians.
  • Applying a One Health perspective that recognises the interdependence of human, animal, and environmental health in rural settings.

Theme 2 : Diverse approaches to delivering rural primary care

  • Clinical innovation, digital tools, and Point of Care Testing (PCOT) to enhance primary care in rural areas.
  • Strengthening multidisciplinary models and developing strategies to attract and retain a sustainable rural workforce.
  • Building effective training and education pathways for rural practice.
  • Advancing rural preventative care.
  • Navigating complexity and uncertainty inherent in rural primary care.

We welcome abstracts that showcase innovative practices, research findings, and real-world solutions that can make a real impact in rural health.

Of course, there will also be free-standing presentations: so please don't hesitate to present an abstract on a topic reflecting your own interests.

The final programme will be based around the themes, and include oral presentations, one slide/five minutes’ presentations, poster presentations, workshops, discussion panels, keynote lectures and a Rural Café.

The final content of the programme will be determined by the abstract submissions and there will be prizes for the best oral communication and the best poster.  Also, the Best Oral Communication by a young doctor will be awarded the Berit Hansen Prize.

Abstracts will be published in the Abstract Book that will be published by Advances in Clinical and Experimental Medicine.  EURIPA is pleased to collaborate with the Journal and more information is available on the collaboration.

Once an abstract is accepted by the Scientific Committee, authors will need to Register and pay their registration fee for the Forum in order for their abstracts to be included in the Abstract Book.  Authors will need to participate in the Forum in Cartagena, and for the workshops it is recommended that at least three co-authors will be able to attend the Forum in order to deliver an effective workshop.

There will be a poster walk during the Forum.  This means that authors, whose abstracts are accepted for posters, will have to bring a physical poster with them to be displayed on the poster boards. Everyone attending the Forum will have a chance to vote for the Best Poster. The authors of the top five posters will be invited to present their poster at a ‘Poster session’ on Friday afternoon, after which the winning poster will be chosen.  The award will be presented on Saturday morning at the Closing Ceremony.

Please do not miss this opportunity to participate in a stimulating meeting in an interesting location.

Join Us in in celebrating the diversity of rural practice
